Corduroy Trilby Hat
Take a look at this sleek Black corduroy trilby. This unisex hat has a destinct retro feel about it. Breton Caps
Breton caps have been a stable fixture in Headstart Hats itenary since the beginning, we've been selling them since we started off selling headwear, hats and caps on ebay. They tick all the boxes, they're Classic, Timeless and Smart.
The main problem with Breton caps is their name. Over the years we've seen them called (Take deep breath) Clipper hat, Mariner cap, Greek Fisherman's Hat, Bretton Cap, Beatles Hat, Donovan Hat, Bargee Cap, Captain cap, Fiddlers cap, Bretagne Cap, Lennon cap and hat like Uncle Albert from Only fools and horses wore. As you can see they are a keyword nightmare, So Headstart Hats stuck to Breton cap.
The Breton cap was first worn by Greek fishermen and sailors while they were out at sea. But its popularity was catapulted when John Lennon wore one on The Beatles 1964 USA tour, then it became an iconic piece of headwear of the Sixties, and was one of the first items of clothing to be classed as "Unisex", Edie Sedgwick would be seen wearing one as well as The Small Faces.
During the 90's a new generation of Mods championed the breton. Ocean Color Scene were regular wearers and Oasis man Liam Gallagher sported one, and Mr G later produced a range called "Lennon Cap" for his Pretty Green clothing label.
So, It looks like the breton cap has maintained it's cool through several decades, and may it long continue.

The Bowler Hat is Back
It is official the quintessential British Bowler Hat is back, and it must be true as The Sun newspaper has it on their Website accompanied by a Picture of Funny Man Charlie Chaplin wearing one. Also The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Express papers have all reported on the Comeback of the Traditional Bowler hat.
So what has caused this massive comeback? Is it a sharp and hip new TV Hero Like Steed from The Avengers, Perhaps a new cult film like Clockwork Orange..Um, well after some research it's probably down to actor Jude Law, Lindsay Lohen, Fearne Cotton and a girl in the final Big Brother series wore one.
The Bowler hat, which is also known as a derby hat in America was first made in 1849 by hatmakers Thomas and William Bowler. It was designed to protect the gameskeeper head while working in the fields. The keepers had previously worn Top Hats, but they (obviously) kept falling off. The hat was made for William Coke, and when he went to Lock and company hats to collect it, he placed the Bowler on the floor and stamped on it, he was happy with the hat and paid the twelve shillings.
Bowler Hat Heroes- Mr Benn, Laurel and Hardy, Alex from Clockwork Orange, Homepride Men, Steed from The Avengers, Acker Bilk, James Bond baddie Oddjob and Rumpole of the bailey.

Hats Away 2011 Calendar
Doesn't time fly? October already, soon be Christmas. So it's no surprise that 2011 calendars are starting to pop up online, and amongst the Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga ones this Retro style Hat calendar caught Headstart Hats eye.
